Chuck Hawley is an Albuquerque-based musician currently fronting the Chuck Hawley Group.
In the early ’90′s, after a year's sabbatical living in New Mexico’s Gila Wilderness and doing farmwork in the upper Gila area, Chuck collaborated with singer/guitarist Forrest Evans to form Saha World Telegraph. Saha was a large electro-acoustic group whose main line up included Evans, Hawley, Kiren Bahm on violin, Beth Rabben on vocals, David Sinclair on drums, Alyson Steinman on bass, and Kevin Kinane on percussion.
Around the same time period, Chuck did sound engineering for Albuquerque jam band The Withdrawals. By 1999 he was also playing guitar and touring with the band. He played on their live “Evolution” CD which was released in 2000.
Soon, he had the bug to perform more of his own material again and left to form Mucho Buddha with drummer Dave Chrestensen and bassist Dave Pankuch. Violinist/keyboardist Ben Jones soon joined the band and the quartet recorded the CD, “Dragonfly”, and released it in 2003.
